egg noggings

i made egg nog just now. it should be pretty good. i will find out in a couple of hours. it looks and smells really good. i can't wait. i think my favorite part about winter and fall is egg nog. yep, that is what it is. i can't think of anything i like more about this time than egg nog. maybe snowboarding, but i don't really partake in that enough to really say it is a normal part of my winter. i got the recipe from here. If you are as intensely in love with egg nog as i am you should give it a try. it only took like 13 minutes or so.

i feel bad for this guy, but i really can't help but laugh at the situation he is in.

song writings

i just wrote a song. it is a sad song. about a man dying in a burning house in the middle of the night without the one he loves. i think it is a good song. maybe i will record it in the next couple days and post it up here. it was inspired by when i woke up yesterday from a nap because i thought my house was burning down but it was just because one of my stupid roommates was high and forgot that he was cooking beans on the stove. i think it is the best song i have written.

Hurtings

Today I got pretty hurt on my bike. I was still very lucky though. I was riding from school to my house with my friend nick and I took my hands off the handle bars and turned around because we were talking to each other and he was behind me and my front wheel went into a pot hole and i flew over my handle bars. I guess I caught myself with my arms first before i slid on my face because they were pretty cut up and nick said that he thought i broke my arms. After I half caught myself with my arms i realized that my face was grinding on the pavement, but it was all so fast, it was strange how fast it was. It didn't really hurt when it was happening. It hurts now though. After my face slid it felt my bike roll over my body. When I got up I had so much adrenaline running through me that nothing hurt and I had to sit there for a minute and think, is anything broken? do i have all my teeth? i actually thought i lost my left canine because everything in that vicinity was numb and i thought that i actually lost it. it was a little loose but that was because it had just put a hole in my lip. not all the way through my lip to the outside or anything, like a badass piercing. nothing like that. but in made a big enough hole that my tooth keeps getting stuck in it. and my face is swollen. it is very annoying. i am glad that i didn't get to messed up. plus, now i look like a complete bad ass.

and i'm looking over my shoulder

This weekend was the fest and my favorite show was on friday at the venue. Rehasher, Less Than Jake, Strike Anywhere (which i think i had a nightmare about that night.), and Bouncing Souls. I loved rehasher because they have been in my top ten bands since i was a sophomore in high school. They played their whole album excluding a cover they do of suffragette city by david bowie. Less Than Jake was amazing. They came out in cop uniforms to "bad boys bad boys whatchya gonna do?" and half way through their show they through out about 1000 donuts. it was awesome. i caught a powdered, took a bite out of it and chucked it back at them. i think i hit the drummer. and they were taking requests the whole show and at the end they played gainesville rock city... of course. And confetti exploded from the ceiling. it was amazing. and then on saturday night vinny and i had to drive devon home from common grounds, which was pretty funny.

rachel got me a turntable for my birthday so now i can listen to the takers even when my internets are down. she also got me a bunch of awesome thrift store records, like a beach boys christmas album, elton johns greatest hits, etc. i think that since the popularity of mp3s has gotten so huge that cds are pretty much the past (i don't even remember the last cd i bought) there will be, there already is, a comeback in vinyl, which is pretty awesome from the standpoint of a graphic designer. it is a way bigger canvas to work on. i mean i don't think it will comeback to be as popular as cds are or anything, but i don't know.

The Bible on political arguments...

Today I found a new hope in my small group. I consider myself a pretty prideful person and I always want to get in arguments with people that I disagree with. With the upcoming election, I have tried strongly to hold back from even voicing my opinion so as to not get in any arguments with people that are my friends. Many people at Flagler College are uberconservative, and though I am registered Democrat, I view myself as more of a moderate person. There are parts on both sides that I agree with and parts that I disagree with. Well, some of these uberconservative people, are also very outspoken, and they also happen to be in my small group. I don't think any of them even know that I have a blog, so I am not worried about them reading this and I don't think that if they did they would be offended because I think that uberconservative to them would be a compliment. Any way, I have tried my hardest to abstain from any debating of which candidate is better that who or whatever and today in my small group, which I don't really consider a small group, there are at least 10 or 12 people there each week, we came across this chapter which dealt with arguing over politics. I think it is great.

Titus Chapter 3 Verse 1 - 10
Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men.
At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him. You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.
